In the wake of the Bondi Beach terrorist attack, Labor sought to shift focus to firearms reforms. In this speech I explain why I cannot support legislation that targets law-abiding firearm owners instead of addressing the real drivers of extremism and terrorism - Radical Islam. I outline Australia’s already strict gun laws, the lack of fair-market compensation, and the disproportionate impact this bill will have on WA farmers, recreational shooters and firearms businesses—while doing nothing to keep Australians safer.
