Labor’s Health Cuts costing you more
Over 1.4 million older Australians could soon be forced to pay up to $640 more every year for private health insurance — in the middle of a cost-of-living crisis.
This comes as part of Labor’s proposed changes to private health insurance rebates for Australians over 65.
What is happening?
Labor is planning to reduce higher rebates for older Australians, shifting more of the cost of healthcare onto those who can least afford it.
Why this matters?
Older Australians are already under pressure. Many are dealing with rising everyday costs — from groceries to energy bills — and now face the prospect of higher healthcare expenses as well.
Now, these changes risk making things even worse.
If more people are pushed out of private health insurance, it will place even greater pressure on an already stretched public health system.
Older Australians should not be made to pay for policy failures.
If you are aged 65 or over, I want to hear from you.
Take the survey and tell me: could you afford these extra costs?
Your response will help strengthen the case to hold Labor accountable and push back against these changes.
